Brazil 2014 World Cup Chiefs Ink Sponsorship with Liberty Seguros
Brazilian insurance company Liberty Seguros was unveiled as a 2014 World Cup partner, the latest in a string of sponsorships for the tournament.
Ricardo Teixeira, president of the Brazil 2014 organising committee, and FIFA marketing director Thierry Weil joined Luis Maurette, CEO of Liberty Seguros, at Thursday’s signing ceremony.
Weil said: “The fact that so many Brazilian brands are showing such great interest in the event years before it is due to arrive in the country highlights what football and the FIFA World Cup means to the people of Brazil.
“We’re looking forward to Liberty Seguros accompanying us on the journey to 2014.”
Maurette expressed excitement at the possibilities provided by the partnership agreement.
“We are looking forward to playing our part in welcoming the FIFA World Cup back to Brazilian soil for the first time since 1950 and are sure that our involvement in the tournament will have a great impact on our business within Brazil,” added Maurette.
Under the agreement, the Brazil-based insurance company will receive extensive national marketing rights for the 2014 competition, allowing it to directly associate the Liberty Seguros brand with the event in their promotion and advertising in the host nation.
It’s also granted the designation of ‘Official Insurance Provider of the 2014 FIFA World Cup’.
This announcement comes hot on the heels of a slew of other Brazil 2014 sponsorship deals, with the three-year-to-go mark on June 13 looming and the July 30 preliminary draw in Rio de Janeiro also coming up.
Publishing giant Editora Abril was unveiled as the official print media supporter of the World Cup a fortnight ago.
Other Brazil-based sponsors of the World Cup include Marfrig, Oi and Banco Itaú.
Oi, Brazil’s largest telecoms company, became the first major partner of the 2014 tournament in March.
