Olympique Lyonnais signs sponsorship deal with Hyundai
Olympique Lyonnais has sealed a two-year deal that sees Hyundai become the Ligue 1 giant’s new shirt sponsor, and is an ample prove to justify the Koreans depth in football market.
Hyundai is set to replace Betclic as the new main sponsor of the team, although, it is pertinent to mention here that the deal signed with the new company amounts to 5 million Euros per season whereas Betclic were paying 7 million Euros to the club as part of the deal, the reason behind the drop being the recent financial crunch.
Despite the fact that the club has seen itself caught in the midst of a recent financial turmoil, the Ligue 1 giants are not going to lose on their stature, and the signing of sponsorship deal with the Hyundai motors is another proof of the depth the club has to its fold.
The two-year contract with the club has also seen the Korean automobile company further its presence in the football market. Already, the club has the sponsorship rights to the previous four UEFA European Championships to its signature, the company will back France to stage the 2016 competition.
The company also holds the privilege to serve as a partner of the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. The timely acquisition of the deal that sees Hyundai playing an important part in the big competitions liing up, will serve as a boost for the club in terms of revenue generation.
After signing the new deal, the jubilant President of Hyundai Motor France, Deok-Jeong IM, was quoted saying, “We are pleased to realize the national sporting commitments of Hyundai Motor Company” and “Olympique Lyonnais is a major team in Ligue 1 having won seven championship titles in France. OL isa dynamic club with real ambition-values we share”.
