The biggest stadium in Germany has gone cashless thanks to payment solution AG and the installation of their premier system justpay.

Many stadia managers and clubs are investigating smart technologies such as multi-application smartcards, cashless payment, near field communications (NFC), and short message service (SMS) to provide a better customer experience, generate additional revenue and deliver cost efficiencies.

World Cup organizers say 500,000 tickets are unsold and fear ”tragic” empty stadiums at soccer’s showcase event.

FIFA said Friday the tickets would go on sale over the counter to the general public in South Africa from April 15. Organizers will then have less than two months to sell nearly a quarter of the tournament’s total match tickets to avoid empty seats.

Manchester City have signed a £1 billion agreement with Manchester City Council to develop land around their stadium.
